The July 2012 issue of RUNNER'S WORLD magazine mentions Murder on the Outer Banks on the bottom of page 22 in a section called: Intersection--Where Running and Culture Collide. It's listed as the third example of this intertwining of culture and running. The magazine states: BEACH READ: In Murder on the Outer Banks, a high-stakes chase ensues when a runner discovers a secret age-reversing serum.
Very Cool!--my book has been mentioned by the "Worlds Leading Running Magazine."

First Review: MURDER ON THE OUTER BANKS

David Freeze is the president of the Salisbury Rowan Runners of Salisbury, NC. He is a columnist for Salisbury Post where he authors the blog, Gotta' Run.
David's Review:
Murder on the Outer Banks
From a veteran runner’s perspective, I read the first chapter of Joe Ellis’ mystery novel, and I was hooked. My thoughts have often wondered back to the glory days of my best and fastest races. When looking at the race times of winners today, it is easy to imagine myself racing with them again. What if I could win just one more race? Medical Researcher Dr. Hopkins must have felt the same way as he worked to reclaim his youthful ability. Imagine a 65 year old runner who easily beats the best locals! Would we want to do it again?
Murder on the Outer Banks raises the question—If you had the ability to reclaim your youth, would you? It is not the simple question that it seems. The book explores what might really happen should a fountain of youth be available, spinning a tale that is filled with unexpected twists and turns throughout.
Riches, looks and healing are among the rewards considered as the characters consider what is right and what is wrong. There is a feel good love story that intensifies throughout, and lots of descriptive characters who juggle their own perception of ‘What if?’ Criminals, the FBI, and even the White House want the secret formula, and will stop at nothing to get it. The pace accelerates from the beautiful North Carolina Outer Banks to Washington, DC, secluded West Virginia, and back to a coastal hurricane.
While most of the book is fiction, there is enough truth to make me wonder if someday our youth might be as close as a scientist’s fantastic discovery. Would we really want it back?

Murder on the Outer Banks

The new novel has been completed. Final editing is taking place this week then off to the printers--Victor Graphics out of Baltimore, Maryland. John F. Blair Publishing out of North Carolina again will be the distributor for the novel which will be available May 1. I am very excited! The story is a about an old medical researcher who concocts a serum that reverses aging in human cells. When the old doctor wins a local 5k race in Manteo, NC, a group known as the Medical Mafia suspects he has succeeded in his research. From there the bodies begin to pile up on the Outer Banks. Gee Gee Rosell, owner of Buxton Village Books, believes it's definitely the best of the Outer Banks Murder Series. I'll be posting more as the publication date approaches. Please help spread the news.

Ending the Year with a Letter from a Reader.
I love to get emails from readers. Got this one yesterday from Wendy whose boyfriend's parents vacation in Avon, NC:
I have to hand it to you. You stumped the unstumpable. My family hates to go to the movies or watch t.v. with me because I always guess the endings.
My boyfriends parents go to Avon every Thanksgiving and this year picked up two of your novels. Murder at Whalehead and Murder at Hatteras.
I read the first one in one day. I guessed the killer. I felt you gave it away on page 79. Even though, I finished it and love it! I felt I could relate very much to the characters. I actually laughed out loud at some of the off hand comments made by some of them. I enjoyed it very much and recommended it to my daughters.
The second one I finished today. Started it yesterday. I enjoyed this one also. I suspected the killer in this one but you were so clever to make the reader root for it not to be him! So I flip flopped on my idea of who dunnit.
I wondered when I finished it how he could have gotten the mask. I suppose he had taken it after the very first rape.
Very, very good! I cannot wait to read the other novels.
I write alot of stories myself....I have thousands on my computer and cant seem to finish any of them. You inspire me to get back on the horse..so to speak. Thanks! Im a new fan!
My daughter and I went to your website...Very cool! We liked the ghost story until the cheezy ending I guessed that too! Oh, I love the trailers they were fantastic. I did think while reading the first one what a geat movie it would make.....Matt Damon as Kenny Queen!
